In 2019, it celebrated its 30th edition, with over 140 swimmers aged between 10 and 80 years old participating in the event. Due to pendamic, there ware no swimming but again in 2022 more than 100 swimmers participated on 13th May 2022 and in 2023 the event took place on 5th May 2022.

Course Details

The Fahal Island Swim is a challenging 4.2km swim that starts from Fahal Island and ends at the PDO RAH Club. The swim course is not a straight line due to various conditions such as swimming techniques and currents. Each swimmer has to arrange with a kayaker who remains with swimmer throughout the swim course to ensure their safety and navigate them to the correct course.

How to Register

To register for the Fahal Island Swim, swimmers are required to fill out an online registration form. Once registered, they need to look for a kayaker who will accompany them throughout the swim course. Once both the swimmer and kayaker are ready, they need to register with the organizers, who will then confirm their registration and ask them to make payment via the PDO Club member.

Race Day Details

On the day of the event, swimmers and kayakers are required to meet at the PDO RAH Club, where they will register with their race number on their arm. Soon after the registration, Kayakers leaves for the Island to ensure that they reach before the swim start, usually they leave by 6:30 AM and reach the island which is 4.2 KM. The swimmers are then divided into various groups and ride a speed boat to reach the Fahal Island Swim Starting Location.

The swim starts at around 7:30 am, and each swimmer is accompanied by a kayaker to ensure their safety. The kayakers are equipped with all necessary gear, including a GPS system, a whistle, and a communication device. Throughout the swim, the swimmers follows the kayaker and kayaker follows the direction either using the experience or using the GPS device.

Swimmers can have the nutrition or water during the course depending upon their needs, but pro swimmers usually don’t stop for hydration.
