Wadi Bani Awf also spelled as Wadi Bani Auf is one of the largest wadis in the Rustaq region, South Batinah Governorate of Oman; it covers a large area with several villages and including the most popular Snake George or Snake Canyon located in the middle of Wadi Bani Awf. Driving Directions
The road to Wadi Bani Awf is located near Al Awabi Village. GPS coordinates for Starting points of wadi is here 23°17’45.9″N 57°28’03.0″E . This place is 150 km from Muscat (the capital of Oman) and connects via two main roads. Muscat Express Way from Muscat to Rustaq and then from Rustaq it is 10km. Another road is via Barka (Towards Nakhal), boring and excitment and distance vs speed will be the choice to chose between both roads.
Wadi Bani Awf Snake George
Snake George is a very narrow and very thrilling adventure, where many tour operators arrange tour to climb the George.
There is an off-road track that goes to “Wadi Bani Awf” passing through beautiful scenery and connects all the way through Hajar Mountains towards Balad Sayat in Al Dakhiliya region, though this is the best driving experience in 4 wheel with elevation gain of 1600 meters and a total distance of 31km. Wadi Off-Road Track 25 KM
The route through Wadi Bani Awf goes through beautiful scenery and connects all the way to Balad Sayat in Al Dakhiliya region by crossing the Hajar Mountains and offers some of the best off-road driving experiences you can find in Oman.
The road is very steep, and it takes about 3 hours to cross this wadi. It goes along a 5-meter-wide path that is more than 100 meters high in places. There are wires connecting both sides of the wadi, which the adventurous use to cross from one side to the other.
